About this Event
Austria is a small wine producer in terms of quantity, yet is one of the great success stories of the past 10 years. Its flagship grape Gruner Veltliner has brought a welcome wind change from the ubiquitous chardonnay, sauvignon and pinot grigio which have conquered the mass markets.
Quality of everything in Austria is really high, and the GV (GruVee) is a characterful variety, offering clean fruity flavours, but with ripeness, texture and often a touch of spice behind. And as the white wines, led by Gruner, becomes better known in the UK, the door is opening to Austria's fascinating full-bodied reds from their indigenous varieties - Zweigelt, St Laurent and Blaufrankisch. The picture is completed by world class sweet wines from around Lake Neusiedl where botrytis ("noble rot") occurs readily, and where unctuous sweet but delicate dessert wines are produced.
Join us on Friday 21st March from 7pm for £59.00 per person including a drinks reception, 4 course dinner with wines
