Castello Banfi - Tuscany, Italy wine dinner

The prestigious Castello Banfi was founded in 1978 by the Mariani Family. An American Family of Italian descent, they have made history not only for themselves, but for evolving Italian winemaking in Montalcino. Castello Banfi has pioneered clonal research on the Sangiovese vine to produce a more consistent Brunello di Montalcino, by reducing sulfites and histamines through more organic winemaking. Castello Banfi pioneered the planting of noble French grape varieties in the area, and research continues to pair the various microclimates on the estate with the varieties that will flourish under those conditions. But Banfi's most intensive undertaking was on behalf of the zone's native Sangiovese for Brunello.

Further more, Banfi is the first winery in the world to be internationally recognized for exceptional environmental, ethical and social responsibility. All rather impressive!
