Carly's journey is a great example of the range of national opportunities that come from a career with Malmaison. Here she describes her incredible journey in her own words;
"I began my career with Malmaison Aberdeen, In 2008, as a part time food runner, whilst studying for a degree in international Tourism Management, with the intention of venturing into the Business Travel Industry.
I soon developed a huge passion for the brand, and I was offered to undertake my 6 month placement with Malmaison; in doing this I was fortunate to develop through roles such as Waiter, Host, Sommelier and Supervisor. That lead me to change my intended career path and take on a full time Brasserie Supervisor position after the completion of my degree, with a long term goal of becoming a General Manager.
I was soon promoted to Assistant Bistro Manager in Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens, before accepting a similar role as Assistant Brasserie Manager in Mal Aberdeen. Where the promotion to Brasserie Manager followed 18 months later. Since then I was given the opportunity to take on the temporary role of Brasserie Manager in the newly launched Malmaison Dundee hotel, before moving to Malmaison London as F&B Manager, rounding off my F&B experience.
I was fortunate to gain exposure in rooms division, by taking on the position of Front of House Manager, which soon prepared me to feel confident in stepping up into my most recent position of Deputy General Manager at The Avon Gorge Hotel.
Mal/HDV has definitely been the inspiration behind my career, down to the development opportunities, and the team driving the brand, its a company I’ve been very proud to work for."
